The how and why
of Linux
We're volunteers from the Roanoke Valley GNU/Linux Users Group dedicated to helping newcomers get up and running with Linux — from picking a distro to hardening your system.
About This Site
We hope that by using this site you'll be able to get the Linux distribution that's right for you, install Linux for the first time, learn the filesystem and how to edit files, get the GUI (X Window System) up and running, connect to the Internet, secure your system, and sample the many applications available for Linux.
We hope you find this site useful — and if you do, please recommend it to your friends and neighbours!
